flower profile and essence creation story:

One rising in the early spring of 2020, I noticed the pink Azaleas in bloom — a sight to behold indeed; The moment of me noticing their blooming followed a night of communion with Ezili Danto in which I had asked her for a sign. I intuitively knew the Azalea was a part of the signaling I would receive in this season, also gracefully being one whose essence would help me augur the motions and movements in my surroundings. The spring of the year prior, I’d intended to make an Azalea flower essence but instead waited as that time didn’t feel quite right. In 2020, however, the alignment felt perfect; timing divine — the sign I was seeking was one to inform what I might need to shed of my connections to others; a stagnation felt present alongside a lurking enmity I couldn’t quite place though notably external. As one with a strong 7th house presence in my natal chart, matters of relation and relating seem to be at the fore of my experiences quite often — this astrological aspect is also part of why entering into connection with all of creation feels so natural to me because it is… reminding me that sometimes bonds need to be broken and ties need to be cut so that healing can happen, while others seek reinforcement through evaluation, attention, communion, and adjustment. I spent the following days sitting with the Azalea, in meditation, feeling into the matrix of this entity and all the secrets they contained. Eight days following the initial recognition of Azalea’s return, I went to go sit with the flowers when I vividly, through my mind’s eye, saw a woman standing in front of the bush, sword in her right hand, gently smiling. In my head I thought, “Ezili, is that you?” I swooned and cried a bit because of course I knew. After my daily meditation in front of the bush, Abalone shell on my womb under a belly bind, I thought to make essences of the two, Azalea and Abalone, so I obliged. The moments felt as divinely ordained as they were. It was around that time when a big purge of the heart ensued — I hadn’t even internalized the essence in water but the work had already begun. In that moment, it all made sense — Azalea had been working with me since the moment when I first considering making an essence with them the year before. There is a way about plants and how they feel and respond to our intentions, how once we consent to integrating their wisdom into our consciousness and awareness, the relation begins as swiftly as the thought happens. In this and other ways, plants are masters at relation and connection, and Azalea is one whose essence really holds that kind of imprint. Working more deeply with this one, we learn a number of things regarding the variety of their offerings. Ezili’s Azalea, as this potion quite naturally claimed its name the same day it was made, holds a strong Libran frequency, needless to say the 3 air signatures are all present here. It is crafted with 5 separate essences combined and dancing in rose water and rum with a bit of honey; their carriers reflective of the sweetness and clarity that these essences bring. Azalea flowers at the core of this is quite gracefully one which helps us attune to the wisdom of how self-love, self-acceptance, and self-compassion can be expanded into a vibration of seeing the good/god in the world around us with greater lucidity. It enables us to open the heart in a way that is discerning in giving and receiving, all the same. Azalea flowers holds a vibrational healing potential that helps us to address fears, particularly those stemming from childhood roots, and thus do the root work necessary to move through issues of fear-based decision-making and thinking. This offers us the tools to refine how we interact outside of the self; with others, person, plant, cat, kin, deer, bear, water, fire, earth, air, all — the path to harmony is made clear, and we may walk the beauty way. In the zodiac, Gemini (another air signature that this essence also corresponds to) is a child; they is also an air sign, a Mercurial force, a thinker of all the things. This blend, containing Abalone shell essence, is one particularly suited for healing the inner child within — balance is trinary, and the child is a prime (numbers, aha) representation of the union of 1 and 2. Thus Ezili’s Azalea nurtures and assures us, reminds us that it is okay to play, to wander, to wonder, to think long and deep, to imagine and envision new and brighter worlds…. To get there and be in that peace, however, a purge may be necessary. The combined power of Black Obsidian and Abalone shell is one that facilitates just that, so with this we are able to then step into connections and relations in the world from a refined perception and perspective — we can really embody the balance that The Lovers may offer us. This is also the balance seen in Ezili when we see her holding sword in one hand with a child cradled in her arm. This is an essence that heals not only the masculine and feminine within, but also bring needed remedy for the mother and child. The symbol of the sword and the essence of abalone have a great synergy for matters of communication. A softening energy, Abalone helps us to tune to spaces deep within, resonant with ancient tongue communions of the womb, the waters, the heart. They help us attune to the original, authentic, and timeless inside of us. Here, hear, Aquarius… Strengthening the centers from the heart to the crown, Ezili’s Azalea is an essence blend which reminds us how the processes of respiration (not just our own, but that of trees and other plant beings, for instance) facilitate the continuation of our existence and the connections to a ‘higher’ transcendent source, all the same. We gives thanks for the balance. Magnolia offers the touch of divine love and elevated consciousness. They open to the sun, reminiscent of a crown not too overwhelmed to receive. We give thanks for the fusion potentials with this flower’s qualities and those of the Black Obsidian whose work to heal the mind and heart through reawakening of memory is furthermore evidenced as a release of blockages and limiting beliefs. Potent. Give thanks. Imbibe this coded knowing. This is one of The 22 Flowers of Life, and it connects to Key 6: The Lovers

A note about using flower essences:

flower essences are not oils. They are vibrational healing remedies which affect and change energetic conditions and, like some oils and other medicines, can be used internally, on acupuncture/acupressure points and chakras, sprayed in the energy field, dripped in your water, and even used for personal and professional massaging. It is best to use an essence or combination and/or group of essences for 30-33 days to permanently shift patterns and create new habits, healthier lifeways.
