the story:
And so, it began. The journey. The search inspired by a pain, an ache, the asé, the light emerging from the wound within. At a young age, I had learned about the power that certain pain activates. This was a lesson taught to me, again, by my firstborn whose journey earth side came through a long labor of 6 days. On the 7th day, the day of her birth, I rested. This birthing experience also came as the beginning of an important journey inward. It felt ironic how, in giving a part of me to the world, putting something so precious to me out there, I was being prompted to go within, to dig deeper. The questions longed for answers, and a good few of my ancestors felt I would be the only one to really listen. The plants started to hold me through conversation as they did their work to heal me, reminding me of other virtues and potentials within and around. My aunt, who had helped me come up with my daughter’s first name and whose birthday my daughter ended up being born on, prepared for me a bucket half filled with steaming water and herbs, what I later heard referred to as “yoni steams” but which I initially knew as “baths to heal the matriz and cicatriz”. I would also eat a plate of seeded grapes and a decoction of slippery elm bark every day for the first 14 days as a part of my healing protocol. My milk came quickly with the help of oatstraw. My mother would prepare me avena mixed with an oatstraw infusion, as recommended by one of my other aunts. My daughter and I both slept peacefully during the nights, save for a few colicky moments we stayed up through. In this eternal postpartum period, I began to learn more about my dream abilities. And so, deeper became the inquiry. In a dream, years later, months after my firstborn’s 10th birthday and her first bleeding cycle, I dreamt of birthing her again. The next rising, I prepared myself an infusion/decoction with all of the ingredients, minus the rehmannia, in this particular recipe. Yin toning and activating, it felt perfect for the work of digging deeper so that I may know. Slowly sipping, I scribed questions, concerns, and gratitude. Mothering and exalting the feminine is work of the Ancients. Filling and receiving into spaces fertile and open is an honor to accept graciously. Each sip felt more of that. Each whiff of the mix sparked the surfacing of deeper memories, knowing. It is this formula, a treasure of traditional Chinese medicines, combined with two allies that softened me into motherhood at a very young age, that contains keys of recognition. This is a formula of remembrance crafted with herbals that sharpen and refine heart, body, and mind. With accomplices like Lycium berries, aka wolfberry or goji berries, which are known for enhancing night vision, for instance, I experienced visions of the parallel timespirals through which my firstborn and I are connected. Skullcap leaves are particularly relaxing to the nervous system, making them ideal for any work necessitating greater receptivity such as that of inquiring and asking the questions whose answers bring about greater self knowledge. Skullcap is spiritually significant as an initiatory ally for many who practice divination or other occult arts of investigation. As one with great affinity for the 3rd eye and crown chakras, they can even help to eliminate headaches or mental fog which could contribute to the obstruction of sight on both a physical and spiritual level. Such a medicine fairs well in combination with others like Schizandra berries and Astragalus root — both being specifically enlivening to the pineal and pituitary glands, thus enhancing communications not only in those upper regions, but more specifically between the womb and pituitary axis. This is something that can really enable us to tap into the energy of ancestral forces such as grandmothers and great grandmothers. Through our womb portal, we can access matrilineal wisdom, while also connecting to that of our fathers’ mothers. Schizandra berries are furthermore healing to the reproductive organs by restoring moisture and lubrication — this comes in handy when one experiences chronic dryness and/or during the menopausal period. Jujube (red) dates are also a supportive fruit in the quest of inquiry. Used since ancient times as a nutritive, cleanser, and complementary tonic, Jujube dates are known for clearing the “nine openings” including the eyes, ears, sinuses, nose, throat, bowels, and urinary tract — this quality alone suffices to remove any obstructions making it difficult for the body to receive and properly interpret and synthesize incoming information. A yin herb, this one helps to extend our powers of conservation and concentration, allowing us to, as we eliminate unnecessary energies, gather our forces so that they can be used more adequately in moments of processing and divination, of reading the signs and interpreting the messages. Astragalus, slippery elm, and oatstraw also contribute to the moistening/water qualities of this formula. Astragalus, sweet and mothering in their disposition, has the strong property of regulating fluid metabolism, so it ensures that all of that moisture doesn’t pool up and become stagnant. This makes for a balancing act in a medicine bound to make us more aware of our own water element within. With astragalus in this formula, one experiencing bloating or water retention soon meets relief. Slippery elm is also ideal for such conditions while also being useful for relieving and treating irritations and infections. Nourishing and soothing, Slippery elm pairs well with accomplices like Oatstraw who are rich in magnesium and calcium, and are known for calming nervous tensions — furthermore driving out any false fire which may be drying up and impeding the flow. 000, the Portal is an ancestral formula charged with the power to open us up and lead us in. It is a potion designed to clear the mind and quicken perceptions. A formula conceived between dreams, this is one for building energy while relaxing the nerves, for inviting presence and the supernatural, for easing and settling into the resolution that intuition and discernment bring, for remembering that which aids us in birthing the parts which make us the whole of who we are today.

the story:
No matter how many times you have seen a flower, there is nothing like the energy of renewal that the sight of new growth brings in the spring. There is an element of readiness present as the skies begin to warm with the frequency of the sun more pronounced, again. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is the season aligned with the element of wood — solid yet supple, able to grow and spread. This season is also connected to the organs of the liver and the gallbladder, and for this reason, within this season, we attend to these organs to maximize the efficiency and healing power of what our body is doing at that time of the year. It is also true that within a single month, or even a single week or day, we experience all of the 4 seasons on a microcosmic level, so this potion is meant to hold us through the moment to moment renewal into spring that we each experience. The Way of Flowers teach us about flow; it reminds us to be confident and decisive, sure of who we are and are becoming in each moment. The Way of Flowers is one we become attuned to through observation of the patterns of nature at this time of year. We witness constant change and the unveiling of potential from the seed contained within. We learn about the bounty that a still and quiet winter has afforded us. It is through learning the Way of Flowers that we begin to channel forth the beauty and medicine held deep inside. It is known that the medicine contained within the flower of a plant is most concentrated in its blooming, most potent, and through this we are educated on the myriad possibilities of offerings that come with our unraveling. This spring elixir holds activation notes for our journey and provides us with sign posts that say “keep going” as we move along our voyage. Encoded with herbs effective for liver health, this formula is one meant to enhance the movement of inner tides, creating a smooth, even movement of chi and blood throughout the body. Like the spring often sets the tone for a year, the liver is directly related to the health of the entire body. To ensure proper reproductive function, the liver is responsible for manufacturing a good amount of the precursors to proper hormonal production. The herbs used here are particularly stimulating to the liver, a benefit accentuated by the final slightly sour taste of the formula — sour being particularly activating and healing to liver function. Schizandra berries is commonly known as the five flavors herb (or wu wei tza), with that sour taste coming to the forefront in all preparations involving a good amount of this berry. Schizandra is known to regulate fluid in the body while also promoting tranquility in the mind. This fruit emerged from a flower reminds us of the power of elegance as evidenced through patience. Schizandra is a fruit who only comes forth when there is both a male and female plant present, hinting at the necessity for a certain kind of balance and the ability of this plant to express their being in a variety of ways. Wu Wei Tza was thus favored in China by the emperors and people of the wealthy royal classes, and there was a practice of using this berry for 100 days straight to rejuvenate the kidneys (especially the sexual energy), brighten the mind, purify the blood, and clarify the skin. Combining these properties with the qualities of Rose hips and Elderberries provides not only a healer for the skin through their unified Vitamin C content, but also a boost to immunity and overall longevity of the organism. Rose hips are particularly effective for all deficiency of the kidneys which can manifest as lower back pains, muscle fatigue and ache, weak pulse, loose stools, and a number of other conditions. Rose hips bring a sort of lifting of the energies which soon put the radiance back in the eyes of those who may have otherwise lacked the luster of its once shimmering. Elderberries and Elderflowers, known for their immune fortifying potential, are also effective for skin care while serving to heal the liver — this alone makes them ideal for teenagers and those going through puberty who may be more prone to acne and other such outbreaks. They are also useful for detoxifying from cold and flu. Calendula flowers, Roses, and Red Clover blossoms are the other accomplices who come to remind us of the power of flowers and flowering. In essence form they each work in various ways — Calendula aids in helping us find our voice and reminding us of our innermost truths. They helps us to cultivate empathy and be more graceful and compassionate in our communications. This is an essence for relations, guiding us into community again after the winter may have had us a bit more isolated. Rose essence highlights our true essence and core nature — it guides us forward to who we have always been and compels us to act on purpose and without fear. Red Clover blossoms help to raise our vibratory frequency, both within the subtle energetic body and throughout our biochemistry. Red Clover essence is one that helps to transmute emotional wounds into the lessons and spaces where the light can shine through. The combination of these essences make us aware of the brilliance within us, like a flower waiting for the perfect time to bloom and showcase their full beauty. Medicinally, each of these is also effective for liver health, while serving as healers of both the heart and throat chakras. Calendula, with their gentle mucilage, soothing irritations of the lungs and throat, all the while working their way into the womb and reproductive spaces, providing relief as needed. Rose, with a high vibration of love, leading the heart to the place where it can be open and still remain protected, strong and still remain sensitive. Red Clover, a blossom which grows even in concrete jungles which is where I first encountered them, resonating as a spiral dance gracefully touching upon our bodies, surely escorting us into forward movement so that we may live again, uninterrupted by the shadows of memories that have been meaning to be transmuted. The Way of Flowers is one for the shapeshifters, those unafraid of evolution and willing to shine without concern of who it may offend, yet with the mindfulness that we all grow and bloom at our own pace.

the story:
The Summer is the fire that draws us out and in to the light of the Sun. Inherently, Summer has the power of attraction through luminosity. In the process of Womb Way, the Summer is the season when one becomes aware of the Mother within — when we can clearly perceive our magnitude and all of the variety of fruit that can come from the seeds planted. Like the Sun, we become ever aware of the power of the creator within. We become Magician and the Wheel of our own Fortune. Sun Bu’er, one of the seven Taoist masters and the only woman in recorded history to have become a Taoist master (this due to the repression of women), is a great example of magnifying our solar medicine while in operation with the influence of lunar dispositions. Sun Bu’er lived for years as a wealthy woman, married and with three children, and at 51 years she decided to become a nun and serve as a Taoist priest, ‘abandoning’ her duties as a mother and wife to realize her spiritual calling. Before this, she had already been engaged in her personal expressions through the art of calligraphy and the writing of poetry. Through her life as one of the Seven Perfected she wrote several poems which were used in her instruction of the Dao, alongside alchemical works outlining proper breathing and meditation techniques, circulation of the Qi, and even how to master one’s menstrual cycle. Sun Bu’er, through her devotion, became a symbol of liberty and for many she has served as Matriarch in the world of spirit. With Sun and her works in mind, this elixir came to be. Initially, it was considered the “Inner Elixir of Tranquility” as one of Sun’s titles was "Serene One of Clarity and Tranquility", and as the crafting process continued and the essences of jade and gold stepped forward to be included, one of her poems came to mind, and it felt quite natural that this potion capture the essence of metaphor and meaning in the poem “Gathering the Mind”. The essences of jade and gold serve as primary guiding forces here. Gold essence is naturally attuned to the solar frequency. Aiding in restoring self-esteem and self-love, while strengthening confidence in our gifts and creative powers, gold essence is the elixir of the alchemist able to transmute and refine. It is one very potent for the work of balancing intuition and logic, enabling us to flow with grace in our duties, earthly and spiritual. Jade contains a similar capacity and also holds the frequency of easing us into the present moment, enabling creation to flow with intention yet without attachment to a particular result, knowing that its medicine will be felt where and when it needs to be. Jade has been considered a beauty aid due to its ability to soften tension in the muscles, including the facial muscles, promoting beauty and grace, making this elixir particularly effective for the artists who walk in beauty, with expressions for the eyes to behold. With all the fire here, there is something very softening about this formula. Oatstraw and Linden are clear indicators of that. Oatstraw heals grief, so when we are working through things that we need to let go, Oatstraw provides relief. Like water, Oatstraw promotes an energy of ebb and flow, nourishing us where needed, reminding us that it is okay to just exhale. Linden is known to have similarly calming effects, providing coolness in inflamed conditions and even serving as a relief when inner heat manifests as physical irritation. Linden, or Tilia or “Tila” as we call it in Kiskeya, is rich in antioxidants and helps to eliminate dead cellular disinformation from the body, affording us a great deal of rejuvenation and even serving as a reset to the system. In silent and mindful workings with Tila and Hawthorn, we see their benefit on both the cardiovascular and digestive system. Traditional Chinese Medicine formulas often employ the use of Hawthorn as a digestive tonic, while in the West they are more regarded for matters of the heart. Corazoncito, Little Heart, as I like to call Hawthorn, is considered to be safe, effective for just about any heart condition, and have very low toxicity. This accomplice alleviates insomnia without the sedative effects of many sleeping medications. Yet, truly, this combination of Hawthorn, Linden, and Oatstraw provides more of a receptive space for inspiration to create. The grounding into the creative centers comes through the powers of Red Raspberry and Blessed Thistle leaves. Red raspberry leaves are very particular for the womb space, toning, strengthening, lifting, and tightening; while Blessed Thistle leaves mobilize the liver and call for the check of balance within both womb and liver. Blessed Thistle leaves are also considered to be ideal for postpartum as a stimulator of breast milk production through their ability to get the correct hormones in motion. Red raspberry leaves enhance the nutritional quality of the milk, all the while contributing to a flow in supply. In other terms, all of these are medicines of the heart, the heat, the warmth, the summer, the light that attracts and brings loved ones close. Sun Bu’er’s Poem is a potion for the creators, healers, teachers, and mothers, alike — the all-encompassing being, transcendent and grounded, evolving and true.

the story:
In the Autumn, the life force and medicine of plants becomes concentrated in their roots, the energy of the plants moves in a different and unified direction. In the Autumn, the Wise Woman speaks to us in whispers through the blowing wind upon our faces and crunching of leaves beneath our feet. It is in the Autumn that we gather the harvest of bounty brought through more sun-lit days, and we begin to turn our energy inward while, perhaps, recalling the cheer and joy of the outward yang (spring and summer) seasons. In the wind of this Fall, we hear many songs speak the same message of surrender. Along with the harvest of fruit, we may also bring in the seed which will wait to burst forth in the coming spring. Yet part of the surrender of the time is not just in letting go, but also in that waiting. The I Ching says, “here, in the seed, in the deep hidden stillness, the end of everything is joined to a new beginning”. Thus, the seed which also becomes a root before it becomes a fruit, is the symbol of the Autumn. In death, we see the potential for rebirth and we also witness the refinement that dying brings. A Union of Roots is noted in gathering the variety of what we have created in the seasons of birthing. This is a union that gives us hope and faith as we see what was changing form into new being, not dying as we might perceive it, but simply conserving energy to emerge in a new state, through a new way, perhaps even more abundant than before. The roots make themselves known here, reminding us that foundations need not only be strong to hold us up throughout time — they must also be nourishing. With such wisdom presented through their medicine, all of the roots used in this formula are high in nutrients and powerful in their workings. Nettle root contains phenolic compounds which make it ideal in reducing the rate of oxidation in the organism and, thus, serving as a remedy for degeneration that can occur on multiple levels. Nettle root also contains a wide array of minerals including magnesium, sodium, selenium, iron, zinc, and others. This is a quality that Sachikili (as Nettle is known in the Tongva language), Yellow Dock, Burdock Root, and Yatatkosot (Dandelion in the Tongva language) all share, providing the necessary nourishment that bears witness to a quality foundation. Yellow dock contains an enriching iron supply, and exponentially so when paired with Dandelion or Yatatkosot. One of their primary uses is as a skin healer through targeting poor digestion and poor liver function (this tincture pairs exceptionally with “Way of Flowers” for matters of the skin and to make the iron in this one more bioavailable). Burdock Root is another one that, like both Dandelion and Yellow dock, have a strong impact on the liver, yet Burdock is particular for helping to eliminate excess hormones, all while contributing to the body’s nutritional support system. Each of these roots holds ancestral medicine in their own right — silently reinforcing our powers and gifts as we elevate their story in our lives. In Traditional Chinese Medicine Dandelion is known as Pu Gong Ying and is used to clear out toxic heat conditions — this makes them ideal for alleviating any stagnant dampness that has resulted from grief that may have turned into resentment or even anger. Something that I have found to be an effective Autumn ritual with this tincture is offering each of the roots here for a specific emotional or energetic condition that we might have known our ancestors to have experienced, as a form of elevation. Perhaps offering Dandelion if they experienced anger or liver issues; giving them a drop and offering Valerian if they were or are restless and have needed to be at ease; Ginger root if digestive upsets, constipation, or other such stagnancy was something that they needed help with; you know the medicine that your people and spirits need — this ritual is an invitation to a healing discipline. This elixir, like the Autumn, invites you into deeper attention of the situations that have brought you to the point where you find yourself, and some of these situations are such that aren’t so much personal as they are the stories of those who have in one way or another impacted you and, so, whose energetic imprint you have to decide to integrate, cut cords with, or in some way transmute. Valerian root is a medicinal which promotes the alpha brain waves that ease us into greater flow and mental relaxation, facilitating the voice of our intuition and enabling us to abide in the liminal space where potential knows few to no limits. Ginger root proves to a catalyst, making this a versatile potion safe to be used by children, teens, pregnant people, and elders. With the Union of Roots, we are able to go deep, see what has been, and channel a vision for what could be. Here we gather our strengths and become cognizant of the resources readily available to us for expansion and liberation, to create discipline and ritual in our journey, while propelling us to embody new forms and ideas of harmonic evolution.

the story:
When The Great Wave approaches, do not be frightened for it is the cloak of the dreamers and seers, of those unafraid of their night vision and the shadows we can see out of the corners of our eyes. The Great Wave approaches those who say they are ready to go deep, even if they claimed it and later realize the depths are made of more than the treasures they went looking for. The Great Wave — consider the phrase and close your eyes for a minute: what can you imagine? If you were to look more closely into the waves, what would you see? What deep sea ‘monsters’ might emerge from the black holes serving as portals in ocean floor? What other life might you encounter? Might you find a deep mystery, the one you forgot you had been searching about? The Great Wave comes loaded with heart and memory, a mind of unified consciousness, aware of it all. The winter offers you silent access into the whisper of knowledge that the Akasha holds. Contemplating the Great Waves off Kanagawa, I considered something I had learned about myself a while ago. In my Mandarin Chinese 2 college course, the professor transliterated each of our names — she told me mine is Ai-Xi Luo which means “lover of the world”; like Akasha, set to hold it all close to heart and memory. It seemed very fitting, even considering the Aquarian nature and all, even considering my birth day and birthing days as being in the winter. The Great Wave of Ai-Xi Luo is my medicine dream for the world, and the elements that make it come through as interplanetary plant bodies and an essence, black as the fertile earth and rich in stories. The winter of our lives is the final preparation for the transition into other forms. It is when the dying is finally dead, when it is made clear that the decay is to be nourishment for the seeds due to grow, when the energies of legacy and immortality can more readily be witnessed as the same plants we see fading promise a blossoming tomorrow. The winter invites us to be present in the moments, for by then we have seen how quickly they seem to go, how time passes, tirelessly and without breaking. Winter is the season of those who sleep to dream and live in a continuous stream of the mind’s imagination. It calls us to embrace more, as the weather sometimes incites us to wrap our arms around ourselves, in familiarity of our inner light and warmth. For the visionaries, winter always feels like an invitation to sit within our own crown centers, observing in silence and channeling the conception of the eternal mind which sometimes calls for a resting ground. For the visionaries, mugwort leaves serve as a potent companion. Named Artemisia after the goddess of the moon, and known as “Altamisa” in Kiskeya, mugwort is used ceremoniously to lift the spirits. Used in moxa, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, mugwort again shows evidence of moving energies when combined with the element of fire. In combination with roots like Ginger, mugwort is effective for treating any digestive congestion that impedes visions from flowing. Altamisa is also effective for stimulating menstrual bleeding when the blood has been absent. The leaves alone are potent enough to be mixed in with an oil and make a strong flying ointment. The 3rd eye stimulating qualities of this plant are made stronger with the company of Vitex whose medicine, when used in the indicated dosages, affect the pituitary glands to increase fluidity of communication within all of the intuitive centers in the body. Vitex also comes in handy when relief of breast and menstrual pain is needed. In magickal tradition, they are known to promote qualities of modesty, enabling the concentration and silence that winter calls us into. The winter is also the season of the kidneys and several plants used here particularly target this region. These include nettle root, lady’s mantle, and mugwort. Burdock root is ideal for overall bodily and, specifically, kidney health. Nettle root brings about a necessary cleansing in urinary tract and kidneys, helping to heal inflammations and clear out the blood as needed. Nettle has an overall corrective power in the body when it comes to the water element — they increase and enrich milk flow, reduce water retention, and serve as a specific remedy when menstruation is excessive. Nettle is even good when used for certain allergies, making them ideal as a preparatory herb between winter and spring. Burdock reflects some of these qualities, equally reducing inflammation and fluid retention. With Lady Mantle’s in this formula, we are offered more of the cloaking and energetic shielding of the Great Wave. On a physical level, Lady’s Mantle, which is also known as the “little alchemist” or Alchemilla, contains salicylic acid and has properties which help to alleviate cramps and otherwise painful menstruation. In other times, they have been used as a poultice for helping to firm and tone the breasts, so they have been considered to be a beauty tonic. Lady’s Mantle, so named because their leaves appear looking like a cloak or mantle, has the power to protect us from imbalances to our system which contribute to infertility and any other issues which can arise within our reproductive centers. With milk thistle seeds, this is a rejuvenating potion which helps to reset our cellular information within the sacral and solar plexus spaces, enabling us to shed the programming that we have inherited through certain traumas. Milk thistle also promotes a certain level of emotional clarity through helping clear out fear, grief, and anger all at once. Through time, their medicine brings these energies to the surface for our observation, soon transmuting them through whatever great wave of emotional release then arises. Ginger root brings balance of heat to also help us stay warmly protected through the cooler times in the year and in our lives. The Great Wave of Ai-Xi Luo is a formula for profound pondering, deep dreaming, and complete cleansing. The herbals in this potion not only cleanse the kidney meridian and surrounding organs, including the reproductive, they also aid in clarifying our lives of old energies that have pooled up and stagnated within our entire vibrational system. Consistently working with these accomplices aids us in reseting our rhythms to the natural motion of the universe; here, we are able to access wisdom that supports our growth within and our development throughout.

uses:
soothe impact of grief, shock; provide support after birthing experiences, whether one births a physical child or not; clear cellular information of the effects of trauma overload and debris; catalyze emotional expression; heal and protect mind and heart; nurture self-love and creativity; enhance feelings of happiness and relief; enliven maternal intelligence; strengthen intuitive awareness; promote stability of emotions in trying situations; awaken dream innerstanding; more…
the story:
This essence came to be following a birthing journey that I assisted a friend with. Intuitively, I selected the essences which said themselves to be most supportive to their healing transition. Madre Flores came forth, naturally, as the name because these flowers mother the spirit, heart, mind, and body to wholeness. Madre Flores is an essence blend consecrated with the powers to clear the energetic body, uplift the vibration within the subconscious mind, and overall restructure the template which guides our modes of operation. In a deep sense, this is an essence for rebirthing after birthing or even allowing certain deaths. Mother Flowers is formulated with a combination of essences which raise the frequency and enable us to perceive our experiences as witness and creator, as opposed to victim or subject. It helps us refine how we birth, and even why. It offers us awareness of our becoming through cognizance of our origins. The flower and web essences in Madre Flores all contribute to the expansion into our full potential, and this is experienced in the way that this elixir vitalizes the core of our being, reminding us of both purpose and the power of moving with will and in intention. Mimosa essence is particularly unique, both due to the appearance of the Mimosa flower and also because of the way that this essence helps to create a bridge of healthy communication between heart and mind. It enables us to perceive things as they truly are and not through filters which have been acquired in time and experience. Mimosa flower also resolves grief by refreshing the elements that may be causing a level of sadness. This one brings clarity to heart and mind furthering the work of Star of Bethlehem which particularly targets cellular information when working to shift conditions. In essence, Star of Bethlehem is like a light into the dark. It helps us see clearly the clutter that we have stuffed in corners and which is creating ghosts. It helps us figure out how we can put these ghosts to rest in peace so that we may move forward. Star of Bethlehem, perhaps not surprisingly, offers support to both mother and child after birthing. They even serve to assist families in the transitions that accompany the postpartum process. Spiderweb fairs well within all of this as they offer an extra shield to individuals and those they love. Spiderweb is a known healer of wounds, and as such work to repair when there have been tears and abrupt openings made as result of affliction — this essence brings closure. It is with Hibiscus and Night blooming Jasmine that the workings of Mimosa, Star of Bethlehem, and Spiderweb find a great synchronicity. Hibiscus and Mimosa together impact the womb-heart and the heart, helping to open and simultaneously release where necessary. Together, they create a softening which is met with the renewed faith and trust that Star of Bethlehem awakens in the spirit. In this combination, we see shifts that are sustained long-term. Nightblooming Jasmine provides further illumination through the aspects that Star of Bethlehem brings attention to. Collaboratively, these vibrational essences are giving us a clear view and providing us with a clear blueprint for our process and progress. In a way, the Spiderweb weaves the story of all of these medicines in one bottle, helping us to sit with complexity in a way that is effortless yet present. Madres Flores is a postpartum essence for all those who have birthed, who intend to birth, who have experienced death and seek to create from the fertility it can bring. The essences here guide us through the day, into the night, within the dreams, and throughout the expanse of our full being. Our true and creative self reawakened, we remember who we were when we emerged from our mother’s womb, we remember the beauty that can come from the deep dark.
A note about using flower essences:
flower essences are not oils. They are vibrational healing remedies which affect and change energetic conditions and, like some oils and other medicines, can be used internally, on acupuncture/acupressure points and chakras, sprayed in the energy field, dripped in your water, and even used for personal and professional massaging. It is best to use an essence or combination and/or group of essences for 30-33 days to permanently shift patterns and create new habits, healthier lifeways.

the story:
Witnessing the crown and crowning of the birth experience, we are able to open up and still feel safe and protected as needed in such a moment. Witness of the Crown is for those willing to behold the power and glory brought about by certain conjunctions which further result in major transformation. After the birthing, we can never be the same as before because this experience comes to alter and exalt us. Formulated with Lapis Lazuli and Palo Santo essences, this blend is meant to make us feel confident to speak up and voice our needs while remaining protected enough to have them met or being able to identify when a situation is not contributing to our nourishment. These are also helpful when one is overstimulated or overwhelmed by circumstances and needs to find some relief — they have a clearing effect and can help to clarify confusion. This is further offered through the essence of Ix-canan, otherwise known as Firebush, which aids us in getting to the truth of matters even through the labor of undoing and unlearning programming that has contributed to whatever cognitive dissonance is also the result of taught disembodiment. Ix-canan, especially when paired with Partridge pea, brings us deep remembrance of the innate wisdom contained in our bodies. It grounds us into the somatic space so that we can have a more graceful birthing experience, whether we are physically giving birth or not — it provides us with acute awareness of the hunches and impressions that our physical vessel experiences when moving through all sorts of situations and shifting through conditions. The medley of Hibiscus, Ix-canan, and Partridge pea is also particular for tapping into insights provided from heart and emotional intelligence. These three serve as an uprooting mix for old emotions, stagnant grief, and resentment or anger which may have accumulated from having felt violated or otherwise neglected. Hibiscus bridges the intelligence of the womb and heart, giving us clear imprints on when to even move in certain ways or do certain things. In the physical birthing experience, Hibiscus in conjunction with Spanish needle provide direct guidance for when to push, when to wait, how to breath, and how to connect with our vocal vibration to bring relief and healing to our womb and overall body. This essence promotes ways for us to tangibly and quantitatively express the sensations that we feel throughout our body, so there is something about its medicine that enhances an earth flow in the being, helping us to balance the air, earth, and water elements within our constitution. Within witnessing the crown, we are able to stand, sit, ground, and move in alignment with where we actually are, in time-space and in ourselves, at each moment. It is an essence for establishing presence and being with the present, fully engaged and wholeheartedly involved, evolving.

the story:
It was the eve of a Scorpio moon when a local community member contacted me asking for companionship in her process of an at-home abortion. Well-advised by her physician and a naturopathic doctor, I rose to the call. In the process of packing to go on my journey of holding space, I decided to craft an essence that would support us both through this — The 13th Sign was then born. Months prior to this, on March 13th, a Friday the 13th with a moon in Scorpio, I had crafted an essence blend with Snakeskin, Poke, and Star of Bethlehem which came forward as support after a personal experience I’d had with death and dying. These three essences had done a potent work within me; facilitating safe space to grieve and purge through my emotional expressions, all the while gifting me with visions of renewed futures. Snakeskin had been particularly supportive as one which I had conceived through an ancestral dream where I was directly instructed to sit Snakeskin in water for 13 days following my 30th birthday. Later, it would all make sense why this was a necessity for me. Snakeskin essence is uncrossing and liberating, showing us what we are holding onto that could be constricting, binding, and slowing down our movement. This is an essence that one of my ancestors explained to be effective for works of unblocking the energetic system and purifying input and output channels so that our flow is more crystalline and aligned with true character and basis of being. Combined with Poke and Star of Bethlehem, this is one which is also ideal for transmuting personal and ancestral grief. Poke and Star of Bethlehem are both known to help us make changes on an acute and cellular level — this quality offers us sustained transitions and the evolution that they bring. Star of Bethlehem soothes the heart after shocks leave one feeling stuck or in a state of subconscious flight, promoting groundness in our center and innerstanding of the reasoning behind what has occurred. This essence encourages inner strength. Poke also contributes to this by providing us with the vigor to overcome emotional and mental obstacles, those deep-seated issues which seem to keep us stuck in loops of repetitive behaviors and reactions. Poke also serves as a mutually beneficial accomplice — Poke essence helps us to tap into our ancestors and become aware not only of how they are guiding us but also how they seek to be healed or what sorts of actions we can take to further liberate them into a resting state so that they can be properly elevated. Thus, this is a blend that can be used not only when one is seeking to accept the dying and death, but also when we wish to make offerings to those who have transitioned and are unsure of where to start. Poke and Cerasee together with Star of Bethlehem is a true formula for massive upgrades. With these as supportive we are able to allow old habits, ways, forms, and shapes to die with grace while we look forward with trust in what the waves of adjustment might bring in. Angel’s Trumpet as catalyzing force in this elixir, we are granted elevation into the state which follows the karmic discharge. In the metamorphosis, there is great promise — nothing can ever be the same anymore, things can only be better, life can only be more refined, and for this we are thankful. This essence fertilizes the ground for what we do want to see growing.

With this essence, the story of our time here and the times before the first instance of humanity’s ancestors becomes clearer. Amanita muscaria has a rich history and while she has sometimes been regarding as a “deadly” or “toxic” mushroom, they actually have an extensive medicinal use and are considered safe for ingestion when prepared properly (such as in this essence form). It is emblematic in the human psyche and their image can be seen everywhere from the Mario video games to modern day emojis / pictographic internet and cellphone response codes. (Remember how Amanita mushroom gave Mario a “boost”? Ha.) With today’s technology, we have been able to access a storehouse of information about this mushroom, and when we are graced with their presence in person, it is truly no wonder why this hongo is revered and respected by many indigenous and shamanic cultures. In essence form, Amanita mushroom is applicable for so much. Many mushroom essences have a shared medicinal profile of encouraging transformation and change. Mushroom essences are also particular for enabling us to come into spaces of connection and reciprocity; they are for community-weaving and culture-shifting and building. Crafted through sun in Scorpio with a full moon in Taurus, this Amanita medicine helps us to remain stable in the face of death, so it is also ideal in grief work and for death doulas. Because of this dynamic solar and lunar influence, the Time Traveler Catalyst is charged to bring insight to and connection with our shadow side and the fragmented parts of us needing soul retrieval. It is one that I have found to be especially useful during breathwork and in my yoga practice as it enables me to drop more deeply into my body and simultaneously connect with the psychoemotional through perception of organ function and increasing spiritual awareness. Amanita muscaria is called “Fly Agaric” which also alludes to its effectiveness in aiding spiritual travel; this quality figures heavily in Amanita’s capacity to guide us as we traverse not only the shadow lands but also our dream worlds. By creating harmonic resonance with our organs and bodily systems, el hongo instructs us on where the pain of traumas more deeply impacts our bodies and leads us toward transmuting the hurt into healing. Amanita muscaria is particular for repair after sexual and sensual violations or to resolve any guilt or inadequacy we may feel in that regard. This translates well into an uplifting of our creative forces which moreover helps us to create music, paintings, poems, and other forms of art with more ease and trust in our abilities. This is a strength-promoting and encouraging essence that helps us to feel confident in our abilities and becoming enough to release the impact of experiences beyond our control, thus supporting the capacity to begin and continue creating what we desire.
NOTE: This is an essence, not an infusion, tincture, or other extract, so it is very safe. Considering the information shared above, please be very mindful if you ever decide to work with Amanita in other forms. It is advised that extensive research be done.

the story:
Mother of All Lands is a formula based on a remedy well-known to Kiskeyans from the ‘Dominican’ side of the island. Quisqueya/Kiskeya is said to mean “Great Land” or “Mother of All Lands”, hence the name of this medicine. There is a variation of the potion which is sold commercially at most of the grocery stores where you might find all the ‘island folk’ getting their roots and foods from — that variation is known as La Señora Muller, and all the women in my family who came to the United States have used this one… However, many of us have our own OG versions of the formula, pre-commercialization. The ones my mother, aunts, and their friends have long used are based on formulations created by my grandmother, a bottle of this always stocked in the fridge. I had been taking the formula in the customary way, since the first day of my first menses, but it wasn’t until I conceived my firstborn at age 14 that I would really become curious about this potion and what it could do in the body. The day my mother found out I was pregnant, she took the bottle out of the fridge and told me to drink it — the intention was to induce a miscarriage. Her 14 year old baby having a baby was not something that my mother could stomach, and understandably so. My daughter was set in place, though, so she wasn’t going anywhere — an induced miscarriage attempt was futile. The potion didn’t do what my mother wanted it to do, and later, after doing my own research, I learned that most of the herbs in the formula are safe during pregnancy so of course it wasn’t going to work for that. After giving birth to my daughter, my intimacy with this formula deepened. My aunt advised use of it for postpartum pains, and it worked like a miracle. Cramp bark at the fore as primary ingredient, it was no wonder why this one was so potent for that. Cramp bark is one well-known for their capacity to alleviate cramping, aches, spasms, and tensions. They are used as uterine nervine for helping to relieve pains and relax the uterine muscles. In the female reproductive system, Cramp bark has the capacity to help regulate the function of the ovaries, helping to establish cyclical balance. Contrary to my mother’s attempts on that one intense day, Cramp bark is actually ideal when one is experiencing nervous conditions or irregularities which may threaten to induce or contribute to potential miscarriage. The effects of Cramp bark pair well with Chamomile as they both possess tonic qualities for the womb, helping to correct matters such as excessive bleeding for instance. Chamomile, also known as Manzanilla in Kiskeya and some other Spanish speaking countries, is one that has been used in my family for many generations — so far, I’ve been able to trace use of this plant back to my great great grandparents on both sides of my family. Growing up, we used and witnessed it been used for everything — flus, allergies, stomachaches, headaches, menstrual aches, food poisoning, bug bites, skin inflammations, postpartum let-down and depressions, spiritual possessions, and the likes… In this formula, Chamomile is particular for working in the nervous system, treating disorders and stresses which may factor in to or be a result of womb ailments. In this way, Chamomile is useful for womb health. This one is also good for the digestive system and the liver by way of the bitter principles it contains. Digestive complaints tend to respond well to Chamomile, and indigestion is often relieved, too. Chamomile is a versatile plant which can work as subtly or as strongly as you need them to. Manzanilla is also very soothing postpartum not only for mamas but also for babies when fussy with colic or other digestive bothers. Initially, the mother may drink it as infusion to transfer to the baby through breastmilk, and after a month or two the chamomile infusion can be administered directly in 3-4 drops dosages. In Kiskeya, it is often brewed for the first bath of a baby days after birth. This water is considered protective, relaxing, and helps to ground the soul energy of the child into this dimension, something that is also furthered by the physical bonding of the mama and baby. This fragrant flower is very effective to lift our spirits during menstruation, pregnancy, birthing, postpartum, menopause, and beyond. Surely, it is an ally for the feminine and water spirits. The combination of Spearmint and Holy basil, both mints, have a profound impact on the lungs, stomach, and liver, all of which are organs whose function impacts that of the reproductive system. Spearrmint and Holy basil also work well to clear stagnation in the womb space and bring on the menses when absent or delayed, especially if combined with Ginger (who is not in this formula). The aromatic qualities of these herbs can contribute to a simultaneous soothing and awakening of the senses. Orange peel furthermore has stimulant potential and is usually employed in Kiskeyan formula to potentiate the other medicines, meaning that it helps to bring out the qualities of other plants in a more pronounced way. This is something that also helps to ease the movement of a formula through the blood and, thus, the entire organism. Like all the other plants in Mother of All Lands, Orange peel is a tonic and can prove favorable for strengthening whatever bodily systems it works within. Gentian is a plant that is used in this and other Kiskeyan preparations for reproductive health of all people. On top of cleansing the digestive tract and stimulating the secretion of digestive fluids, Gentian also helps to treat venereal conditions and has been used for PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). Using this potion in fertility enhancement programs is also ideal. Mother of All Lands is one which reminds us of our creative potential as reflective of the womb space from which we are birthed. This formula is for initiations of all sorts, and specifically for those becoming aware of the Mother self or needing help with mending their relations to maternal energies. It is one for ease through big transitions and inner graduations, meant to charge you with the fluidity, versatility, and groundedness of the divine Mothers.

the story:
Birthing Beauty is based on a formula I shared with my students several years ago when I first started offering the apprentice journey. Some of them later on used it during their childbirth experiences and reported ease in labor and through contractions. Birthing Beauty is a formula meant to assist us in the process of birthing, whether a human life or our own creative projects and endeavors. All of the herbals in this formula have the effect of relaxing so that the process in the birth portal can be more graceful. Beyond pregnancy, labors, and childbirth, this tincture is ideal from days 1-14 of the menstrual cycle to help alleviate cramps and pains, all the while balancing estrogen and serving as a uterine tonic. Black Cohosh is particularly effective during the bleeding phase of our cycle, aiding in relieving night sweats, headaches, and other such hormonal-related symptoms. According Prescription for Herbal Healing’s excerpt on this plant medicine, they contain at least three classes of compounds that work to regulate hormone use. The literature furthermore states that the compounds “bind to receptor sites in the reproductive tract, brain, and other organs that otherwise would receive estrogen. This reduces overall estrogen activity when estrogen levels are high”. Alternatively, Black Cohosh has a stabilizing impact which is evidenced through the way that those same compounds block the formation of luteinizing hormone “which stimulates a surge of estrogen production in the first 14 days of the menstrual cycle.” This means that when estrogen is low or high, Cimicifuga (another name for Black Cohosh) helps with both estrogen production and reduction. Further findings reveal that Black Cohosh is also effective for improving the quality of sperm and its motility, moreover correcting infertility in males and sperm-holders. One of the great things about this plant is that, unlike synthetic hormone replacement therapy, Black Cohosh does not stimulate the growth of breast tumors. Actually this plant helps with lactation and alleviates dryness in the body; this is very specifically evident through the mammary glands and generative organs. In essence form, Black Cohosh enables us to undo ourselves from toxic environments and relationships; it is an initiation medicine which is also known as “black snakeroot” and proves to be a great catalyst in times of deep transformation, birth or death. Being combined with Blue Cohosh makes it especially ideal for ailments and happenings within the reproductive system. Native peoples have long used Blue Cohosh for a wide array of conditions afflicting the uterus. Infusions and tinctures of the root are called forth to slow down excessive menstrual bleeding, ease contractions during labor and childbirth, stop bleeding postpartum, and help to rebuild uterine tissue after delivery. Blue Cohosh contains anti-inflammatory qualities which support the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis and other such inflammatory presentations which are ultimately rooted in liver overload. The liver is a key digestive organ which also contains precursory elements for proper hormonal activity in all bodies. Thus, this tincture is also ideal for people who experience acne and such conditions connected to both liver and hormonal shifts. It is worth noting that both Black and Blue cohosh (unrelated plants which work well together for particular situations) have a potential for toxicity when used in large doses and over an extended period of time, so it is not ideal to use this tincture for more than 3 months at a time. Enter Motherwort: she is soothing to the heart, to the womb, to the mind, to the nerves; she offers support. In this formula, Motherwort is effective for bringing calm during stress, tensions, or labor. Alone or combined with roots such as Black Cohosh, Motherwort is a trustworthy companion during times of depression and anxiety, when the heart is experiencing disquiet and upset. Like Blue Cohosh, Motherwort is anti-inflammatory. This Mother’s plant is also detoxifying and supports the liver in helping the body expel excess hormones. Simultaneously, all three of these herbals have the synergistic effect of aiding us into new states of being on all levels, from physical to spiritual. Motherwort and Black Cohosh also share the trait of assisting us when we are coping through the effects of trauma, whether physical, psychological, and/or emotional. With these 3 plants, we feel loved on, mothered, heard, felt, seen, and guided on our path. Birthing Beauty is a catalyst in the process of creation, deliverance, and beauty alike.

“Relax” is the first ‘action’ and formula in our 3-step womb care program. It is important for us to relax because if we are tense, overly stressed, overwhelmed, overstimulated, or hyperactive, it becomes that much more difficult to approach health and integrate whatever healing work we do. Relax is the first step because it helps us settle our minds, hearts, and bodies enough to be able to fully perceive what healing work needs to be done, the best way to do it, and furthermore have the energy to act on that. This alcohol-free glycerite is ideal for soothing our senses and nurturing our bodies. Lemon balm and Oatstraw are in conspiracy here, working synergistically to help us pinpoint what is due to be released, all while aiding us in settling into more a serene and even-tempered energetic signature. Lemon balm can naturally relieve headaches and other aches which are likely to be experienced during the first trimester while the body is going through drastic hormonal shifts and attempting to adapt to the new flows. This is also useful for people who are not pregnant and just need to take the edge off after a stressful day. For all people, Lemon balm is helpful to the digestive system. This plant contains antispasmodic properties afforded by its essential oils and can help to relieve gassy conditions and the pains of air trapped in the system. The essential oils also make it effective upon the respiratory system which contributes to Lemon balm’s capacity for helping us to naturally clear our lungs and be able to breathe more deeply. Melissa, as Lemon balm is otherwise known, is mothering for children and helps calm fussy babies and tireless children. In Kiskeya, we give a mixture of Lemon balm and breastmilk to babies who are colicky. Oatstraw is another one for the babes and is particularly nourishing to all. This one contains a wide array of minerals, high in magnesium and calcium — also providing reinforcement to the supportive structures in our bodies, specifically the musculoskeletal system. An elder once advised this one for sadness, and I found that it works exceptionally to help mend our hearts. Grief often gets stored in our lungs and, like Lemon balm, Oatstraw can help clarify that space of any stagnant grief it is holding in the form of mucus and waters. In my practice, I have learned that when paired with tapping the point between on my chest where the thymus is (using my index and middle finger), Oatstraw tends to induce emotional purging and a subsequent feeling of lucidity, openness, and purity. It has diuretic properties which work in the kidneys and urinary region, helping to treat water retention, UTIs, kidney stones, and even associated lymphatic congestion. With their mineral richness, Oatstraw and Lemon balm also prove to help strengthen hair, nails, teeth, and bones. Throughout the world, both of these plants are revered for their supreme relaxing actions, so it is no wonder that the math of their combination equals ‘relaxation’. As we soften, unwind, open, and recline, we are able to restore ourselves from any deficiency and help remind our vessel of its self-sufficiency.

the story:
After we relax, we are consequentially more brightened and enlightened in our dispositions. Naturally, then, this glycerite follows as the second step in our 3-step womb care program. To be bright is to radiate, to emanate from a stabilized core, grounded in whole self. The “Brighten” formula is designed to reduce any upsets, physical or mental, which may be impeding our flow and glow. This formula is also effective to help stimulate the digestive processes so as to expel anything which may be causing an issue with us receiving the nourishment that we have relaxed our bodies into. Chamomile and Ginger come together here offering a bright yellow color to the glycerin and furthermore being a recalibrating medicine for our solar plexus and sol force energy. Ginger is a warming tonic which affects the entire reproductive system and is particularly suited for smoothening the menstrual flow and counteracting digestive issues when one is pregnant for instance. In places like India, Ginger is considered a “Great Remedy” because it has such a wide array of use and application methods. Mixed with honey or glycerin, this root benefits those experiencing sore throats, coughs, colds, or excessive bronchial catarrh. It brings vitality to the body, stimulating the blood and activating a variety of systems into proper actions. In China, Ginger is used to relieve nausea, vomiting, gas, indigestion, and gastritis, while also being considered toning to the intestines. Other traditions use Ginger regularly as tonic to help prevent spreading of contagious disease. Its warming impact on the body alongside its pungent quality help to induce sweating which may contribute to the expelling of toxins and waste through the skin. Their digestive use translates into overall clarity and ‘brightening’ — Ginger is known to improve memory and alertness. This has a great fusion with the benefits of Chamomile whose gentleness instills in us a sunny disposition. In pregnancy, the combination of Chamomile and Ginger is a highly recommended remedy for morning sickness and digestive sluggishness. Manzanilla (chamomile) is excellent for the nervous system and possesses anti-inflammatory substances which heal swellings, soothe achy joints and muscles, and help to correct other inflammations. Something perhaps less known about Manzanilla is that is contains a good amount of highly bioavailable calcium so it can be strengthening to the bones. This is an ally which fortifies the structure of our body and enhances the framework of our existence. In ancient Kemet, Manzanilla was used as offering to the sun gods, furthermore hinting at this plant’s strong affinity for what is bright and solar. It has a good amount of potassium, so it tones the heart. The more we dig into the history of this ally, the more uses and applications we find for it and the more we can credibly consider this one a Panacea in the world of plant remedies. Speaking more to the clearing effect that this potion has, both Ginger and Chamomile have been used for mucus congestion of the chest and nasal passages further helping to clear fluid stagnation within our respiration. This one can and should be used for a long time and a lot of ‘things’. It helps us see with new eyes — the Brighten formula holds us up even during times when we are not entirely “feeling ourselves”, maybe not seeing our own brilliance; Chamomile and Ginger offer their energies as gentle reminders.

the story:
The last, but not the least — nourishment is the action which seals the healing deal. Relaxed and brightened, we emerge ready to claim and fully integrate the abundance that is rightfully ours. We are nourished by the knowing that we are supported by the plants, our ancestors, our families and friends, and our own decisions and intentions. Having consciously and deliberately embarked on a healing journey is a choice which affords us a great deal of reward, and the promise of this 3-step program or even just working with one such as “Nourish” (by itself) is that you will be supported as you journey and expand into a greater state of harmony. The act of trusting that personal and specific needs will be met in each moment takes courage, and Nourish is entirely imbued with heart, reassuring us that it is safe to step forward fearlessly and break cycles of disease, illness, and trauma. Nettle and Dandelion are incredibly rich in their ways. The address the whole body and soul in very unique ways. Nettle, a plant who grows wild and abundantly in many countries, is abundant in minerals, vitamins, and uses. Ortiga (as we call it in Kiskeya) helps to purify the blood and cleanse the lungs, chest, heart, and breasts. Continued use of this medicine helps to clear the stomach of poisons and expel leeching worms, a quality which reflects Nettle’s spiritual use as a aura cleanser and energetic protector. In juice and infusion form, Ortiga is effective for increasing flows — of menstruation, breast milk, and creativity alike. This also improves overall circulation and the strength of the current in our electromagnetic fields. Naturally, as a result, we attract more in alignment with true abundance as we are able to see what is actually of value in our worlds… Clinical studies have shown that Nettle helps to relieve symptoms of allergies and related discomforts. Through this we are able to see one of this plant main balancing qualities — it not only stimulates flow but also checks and exacts it when happening in excess. This is also specific within the menstrual cycle as Nettle can both promote bleeding while also serving to correct a disproportionate period. In the postpartum period both Nettle and Dandelion help to revitalize the mother and, through enhancing the quality of milk, enliven the baby. In damp and heavy conditions such as mucus in the colon or lungs, or water retention, Nettle and Dandelion’s effect on the kidneys comes in strong. Dandelion has strong diuretic properties, making it a relief for the kidneys and urinary organs when overburdened with excess water. Certain traditions and practices advise the use of Dandelion for 2 months straight to help heal certain liver and kidney illnesses. The impact on the liver is also one that is good for improving digestive processes, so Dandelion shows use as stomach tonic and one which can enhance powers of nutrient assimilation. In my ancestral traditions, Dandelion grants us the wish of deeper and clearer communications with our spirits, so this one is often taken internally or used for external washes before divinations, psychic journeys, or works involving extensive use of the intuitive aspects. In the same way, Dandelion helps establish more graceful connection and transmission through the body. Both of these plants teach us about the wealth inherent in being grounded in and aware of ourselves and our processes. Cleansing and nourishing, invigorating and balancing, Nettle and Dandelion will enable us to charge through distortions and fears into certainty, safety, and longevity.

the story:
Rose family oxymels are a Gold Water Alchemy staple at this point — this is our 5th Rose family oxmel formulation and it won’t be the last. Rose family plants and fruits speak to the heart, the spirit, and feel like family to many of us. In gestures of love, we tend to share roses with our familiars, present and transitioned. Rose family plants are not hard to recognize as bridge builders who help us establish safe and secure foundations and lines of communication by way of open hearts. These plants tend to have qualities in common, as kin do. Many Rose plants are astringents who tone flaccid organs and check unnecessary or excessive secretions. Several of these also serve as tonic, proving to be safe for long term use and application during more physically sensitive times such as pregnancy or when recovering from a debilitated state. Lady’s mantle, Red raspberry, and Blackberry are all Rose kin with similar yet also very distinct functions. Lady’s mantle is a beauty accomplice. When applied externally, they help firm, tighten, and lift — pores, breasts, womb, skin, and more. Internal use of this plant is often considered ideal when one is experiencing pains and cramps. Lady’s mantle, also known as Alchemilla or Little Alchemist, contains salicylic acid and has sedative qualities that help to relax and settle any aches. Through this formula, Lady’s mantle also helps to clear vaginal irritations and can help settle disordered discharges. With Blackberry leaves in the mix, this one is moreover considered ideal for urinary infections that could be affecting the function of the bladder and compromising the womb’s self-cleansing abilities. Blackberry leaves is a considered blood tonic which can help to detoxify impurities that are translating into painful or imbalanced menstrual cycles. They are also highly effective at reducing menstrual bleeding. With their blood toning qualities, Blackberry leaves have a secondary influence on the cardiovascular system. Blackberries, like raspberries, are ideal for anemic conditions where the blood is lacking in essential minerals for optimal quality and metabolism. Both of these berries are yin tonics meaning that they impact bodily fluids and help to restore moisture wherever it is dry in the body. These can also have a cooling energy, so they relieve inflammations and all irritations. In the same way, they check hypersensitivity and excitability which can lead to other disharmony — the result of this is mental and emotional balance. Raspberry leaves are another astringent which helps to prepare the womb for childbirth and treat irregularities in menstruation all the same. These also address digestive issues such as diarrhea and indigestion. In the postpartum period, Raspberry leaves are infused and administered to mothers to help enrich the breast milk, even stimulating lactation. On another level, all of these leaves — raspberry, blackberry, and lady’s mantle — are love medicines, proving efficient and powerful for love workings and to provide ease in relations. Gathering of Familiars is called that not only because it is a gathering of Rose Family plants infused in honey and ACV, but also because it is ideal for bringing us closer to those we love, bringing them closer to us. Applied through conjurations and manifestation rituals, we can set intentions for bringing more love, beauty, harmony, and peace into our lives — indeed, this is the ultimate Venusian treat, coded with all the wonders and pleasantries that such a signature may offer. Immersing in and with this potion, we find that the heart openings are doors that lead us to another side/level of our experience filled with elevated versions of Love’s expression.

Open afresh your round of starry folds,
Ye ardent marigolds!
Dry up the moisture from your golden lids,
For great Apollo bids
That in these days your praises should be sung
On many harps, which he has lately strung;
And when again your dewiness he kisses,
Tell him, I have you in my world of blisses:
So haply when I rove in some far vale,
His mighty voice may come upon the gale. — John Keats

the story:
Calendula is often confused with the modern marigold which is not the same as the pot marigold — the pot marigold is also known as Calendula. This is a plant that I have had a long-term connection with and who my ancestors appreciate a lot when I use in plates of food that I offer to them. Golden Eye was so named because, beyond the golden eyed appearance that this accomplice has, I have noted that my awareness is heightened and I notice a lot more about my surrounding environment when I am in communion and communication with Calendula. In my life, this flower has served as a clarifier of everything around me and what is being communicated through all of it. This Golden Eye tincture is meant to enable us to perceive truths, unclouded by our own misperceptions and expectations, or lack of, thereof. When tinctured, this flower is recommended for a wide array of ailments and complications including lack of menstruation, cramping during the cycle, stomachache, fevers, flu, and even toothache. When used during a fever, it can induce sweating and furthermore alleviate that internal heat. In the digestive and excretory processes, Calendula is known to promote cleansing through enhancing bowel movements and increasing urination. As diaphoretic (inducing sweating) and diuretic (inducing urination), this plant evidently has a particular affinity for the water element in the body, making them an ideal kidney, urinary, and lymphatic tonic. Most often Calendula is used externally, so dropperfuls of this tincture can be added directly to poultice mixes and applied to cuts, bruises, sores, and wounds to aid in swift healing. Despite the apparent simplicity of this remedy, Golden Eye is, perhaps not surprisingly, even ideal for addressing eye health (as the name may imply for some) — high in antioxidants such as beta-carotene which are essential for maintaining optimal vision and preventing macular degeneration. Golden Eye, a formula for the eyes, the womb’s innate flow and intuition, and unblocked communication throughout our body and within our environment, is a potion for the times we are in, times laden with much information floating around in the air, programs that leave us feeling ungrounded and confused about our destination and even our origins. Yet with our herbal accomplices, we walk in beauty, in good company. And with Calendula, we move forward ever protected and guarded by the watchful, observant, and precise Golden Eye.

Inward Training is a practice in mystical Taoist tradition which details meditation techniques, characteristics, and qualities to be upheld by the sage, the wise one, the noble person. In classical Chinese medicine, Schizandra was used by the royals and emperors for the berry’s ability to promote tranquility, serenity, ease of mind, and longevity. Schizandra is thus a medicine for the process of inward training, and this solution also fairs well for the work of strengthening the womb space and promoting elevation of the creative essence at the same time. In Mandarin, Schizandra is known as Wu Wei Tza which is the five flavors herb due to its composition which renders it activating to the variety of taste buds all throughout our tongue and mouth. The fruit itself is usually more salty, whereas the seed is pungent and bitter, and the skin is sweet and sour. This makes Wu Wei Tza the perfect herbal fruit for restoring balance and vitality to those who have experienced degenerative or otherwise debilitating conditions. In the East, Schizandra is highly regarded for its astringent properties, so it comes in handy when there are conditions of flaccidity, dampness, or looseness in the body which are contributing to depletion or weakness on one level or another. Schizandra is considered ideal for lifting the uterus, especially when prepared with honey and other sweet elements; in this lower bodily region, they also help to strengthen and restore elasticity to vaginal walls — this is especially the case when they are paired with plant medicine such as Lady’s Mantle. With continued use, and particularly when used for at least 100 days consecutively, one notices increased energy levels and endurance, clearer thinking, and overall health and vitality throughout the body. These berries increase the water Chi in the kidneys and increase the water of the genital organs considerably. Their empowering use extends into the nervous, respiratory, and cardiovascular systems. This berry taken as a tonic can help to drive out anger (liver imbalance) and neck-shoulder tension. They can also help expel mucus from the lungs and other organs. Schizandra’s beautifying power is one that lends brightness to the mind and heart, allowing us to see and feel with greater clarity. Through study it has been found that Wu Wei Tza possesses protective qualities. During chemotherapy, the heart muscle can become compromised, and studies have found that Schizandra can shield the heart. In another study, women being treated with chemotherapy for ovarian cancer experienced improved immunity from a product that contained Schizandra. In communion with this ally we learn that they are a highly protective and supportive energy. Schizandra has also been found to increase the liver’s ability to make the enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which deactivates several kinds of free radicals that attack the outer membrane of liver cells. In essence, Schizandra targets deficiencies that manifest as a variety of conditions throughout the body. The above mentioned are liver and adrenal deficiencies. Schizandra chinensis also tonifies the adrenal cortex and liver. When this happen, they address metabolic deficiencies which can show up as exhaustion, blood sugar swings, and frequent infections. A restored adrenal cortex helps one overcome loss of stamina, exhaustion, over-work, and stress. Russians have been particularly interested in Schizandra due to their ability to enhance physical performance through stamina and endurance, so this fruit also has significant merit as an adaptogen. An adaptogen is generally a safe and non- toxic herb which can serve as a support to reduce stress, both mental and physical. This particular berry has proved to be a great tonic, capable of enhancing physical energy and promoting stamina. They actively reduce levels of stress hormones in the blood, so we can quantitively measure their adaptogenic ability. In human studies, Schizandra berries and extracts of the berries have shown to help improve performance among long distance runners, skiers, and gymnasts. Furthering the adaptogen aspect into the potential for this ally as a neuro-tropic medicine (a medicine that enhances neurological and cognitive functions), Schizandra has shown to offer great benefits for the mind. Other human studies have shown that Schizandra improves concentration and coordination — hence their use for inward training practices. They help to decrease mental fatigue and increase accuracy and quality of work. Clinical studies with doctor, student, soldiers, and other groups rendered results demonstrating this plant’s superior mind- sharpening powers. Truly, Schizandra is a super berry in its own right, with the potential to help us feel noticeably better and sharper. Pairing this one with Lapis Lazuli essence helps us to clear confusion between what we believe and what we know, further compelling us to properly synthesize whatever information we are receiving whether through the womb, heart, mind, or all. The physical, mental, and even emotional benefits of this ally help to awaken our deeper senses so that we can feel the inner processes that factor into our daily experience and elevate our creative urges to be clear vision so that they can be reground into spaces that enable us to truly and truthfully manifest.

the story:
Roses are special to me and many. Through time, they have experienced great changes as an entity. Rose is the ancestor of many plants whose fruits all of us enjoy: raspberries, strawberries, peaches, blackberries, apples, and cherries all nourish us at different times of the year, all part of the mighty Rose family. A Rose, a guide in the process of shapeshifting and throughout our becoming, contains many keys and codes, deep truths to behold. Used widely in beauty formulas and employed extensively for matters of the heart — everything from Valentine’s Day to cardiovascular conditions — Rose stands supreme in their dynamic purpose. For me, Rose comes with the secrets of the Creator, Rose reminds me how to be new and different and still remain essential, the same at the core, again and again. They remind me of The Fool (or Aspirant) card of the major arcana, providing us with a clear template upon which to build. In medicine, Rose is considered a supreme nerve tonic, helping to relax muscles and relieve tension and fatigue. Though now commonly used in the cosmetic industry, Rose has been an accomplice in rituals of divine love and to the Virgin Mary, while also being widely incorporated in healing actions such as giving a bouquet of the flowers to the sick and those we love, alike. The parts of the Rose plant which lends themselves well for plant medicine include the flowers and the rose hips. Though they can energetically heat up the ambiance by increasing feelings of passionate love and even lust, they are rather cooling to the bodily constitution, helping to reduce heat and inflammation as needed. Rose are especially relaxing to the heart and womb, easing flow of blood in both spaces. Their relaxing properties in both of these spaces are what lend their energy perfectly as an aphrodisiac, as they stimulate feelings of simultaneous openness and readiness. Along with being relaxing, they can also sedate so come in handy during instances when the mind is troubled or overly occupied and unable to find rest. When used regularly, Rose provides a feeling of being nourished and filled while also helping to relieve any sluggishness in the system which could make that same fullness feel uncomfortable. Irritations, agitations, and vulnerable tenderness are all well-addressed by the medicine of Rose — Rose is also a known astringent which can be cooling when the issues are relating to a level of dampness, either physically or emotionally. Used in combinations with tinctures of Schizandra and Lady’s Mantle is SERIOUS healing magick for the yoni — these three together make the yoni feel cared for, strong, and supple, yet Rose alone is sufficient for elevating the vibration within the entirety of the reproductive system. This one is also indicated for issues of the respiratory system (which are very connected to the heart) such as sore throats, cough, and otherwise lung discomfort. With Considering all of this, it is no wonder that Rose Quartz came to join this heartfelt party. Rose Quartz is a healer of the heart which, in this potion, is specifically set to help us transmute traumas and emotional “hang-ups” that make it hard for us to be open and receptive to love. Rose Quartz reminds of the reasons why we can and should trust again. When the past memories are loaded with events that feel deep-seated and hard to uproot, Rose Quartz brings color back to your vision. With Rose Quartz and Rosa centifolia as companions, one feels affirmed in who they are, reminded of their purpose, and renewed with the vibration and frequency of highest Love. A flower so potent, enchanting, and grounding, and equally transcendent combined with a gem so harmonic, softening, and soothing serves as a forever tonic in the journey along Womb Way.

“this is why alchemy exists," the boy said. "so that everyone will search for his treasure, find it, and then want to be better than he was in his former life. lead will play its role until the world has no further need for lead; and then lead will have to turn itself into gold. that's what alchemists do. they show that when we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better, too.” — Paulo Coelho

the story:
Lady’s Mantle has a long history as a sacred, magickal herb. Ancient time alchemists would gather the dew that collected on the plant’s foliage and use it to enhance the potency of their formulas. In the Middle East they have been revered as a love and beauty tonic, further used to ensure fertility to this day. The powerful antioxidant activity of this plant is in great part responsible for the potent feeling of wellness reflected from within to the skin. Antioxidants help to fend off free radicals that cause cellular damage, helping to decrease signs of premature aging and disease. The value of Lady’s Mantle as a sacred beauty ally extend into their use for hair – the same antioxidants previously spoken of help to get rid of what is preventing your scalp and hair follicles from producing healthy cells. In Switzerland they are used in poultice form to firm and tone the breast tissue, moreover shedding light upon the beautifying qualities of this plant medicine. This herb’s main quality is that of astringency which makes them a perfect antidote to heavy menstrual flow, breakthrough bleeding, or heavy discharges (otherwise known as leukorrhea) – this is the same quality that contributes to their capacity to tone tissues. Alchemilla vulgaris is well known to increase the blood supply to the reproductive organs, stimulating menstruation while supporting a balanced menstrual flow. Lady’s Mantle is one that helps to promote and regulate the menstrual cycle, simultaneously toning the uterus and ovaries – a signature quality of many of the Rose family plant allies. The antioxidant constituents present in Lady’s Mantle can protect against the oxidative stress responsible for various diseases such as heart disease – another hallmark of Rose family plants. Further considering the reproductive uses of this ally, it has been found that though Lady’s Mantle is safe during pregnancy, it is best used to tone the womb and prepare it for labor (especially if combined with an ally such as Red Raspberry Leaf) during the last trimester, while also aiding in the stimulation of breast milk production. Their regulatory effect upon the menstrual cycle surely extends well into not only postpartum use but also into menopause where they can offer relief from accompanying hot flashes and insomnia. By virtue of other constituents such as the salicylic acid they contain, Lady’s Mantle helps to alleviate pains associated with conditions like endometriosis and fibroids. One study done involved the use of a liquid extract of Alchemilla’s aerial portions on ‘study subjects’ with endometriosis, and the researchers found that this decreased cystic formation thus is ideal for treating endometriosis. By Western herbalists, Lady’s Mantle is commonly used topically on wounds to stop bleeding and promote healing. Taken internally, they are administered as an appetite stimulant – the bitter constituents are partly responsible as they are ideal for activating digestive juices and function. These digestive aid applications translate well into the use of Alchemilla for the skin – the liver is in part responsible for aiding the cleansing and detoxification process of this major organ (the skin). When the liver is impaired or the function is somehow compromised, we see manifestations such as rough and dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, or pimple breakouts. A popular agent in acne-fighting products, the salicylic acid is often used for tough to manage skin presentations such as cystic acne and can range into even aiding the improvement of scars, burns, scrapes, bites, stings, and wounds. Keeping in mind that we are speaking of a Rose family plant, we can also see how Alchemilla lends plenty of energy for emotional support. This is not only experienced in the case where hormonal fluctuations can be said to be showing up as an imbalance of emotional display, but also when one is going through deep release of grief or other such stagnant energies. The heart, being close to the lungs in the body, are deeply intertwined with the lungs in its function. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the lungs are said to be the organs that are most directly impacted by grief – for instance, when we are sad and we cry, we often see a lot of mucus come up and out of the lungs through the sinuses and even the mouth. In many traditions, the Rose is regarded as a symbol of the heart and love, and Rose family members often tone the heart and blood vessels in different ways while typically being useful for respiratory conditions as well. Moreover, another postpartum possibility is that of experiencing depression, and while people often attribute it to the shift in hormones and the resulting period of ‘let down’, there are people who have reported that their grief was, in part, due to the birthing experience or even pregnancy not going as they intended it to. This is where Lady’s Mantle shows up as exceptionally supportive. Like the alchemist that this ally is, they enable us to fully transmute the feelings that may make us feel inadequate. More of the sacral chakra applications as they connect to the emotional body have to do with Alchemilla’s effectiveness for helping us transmute emotional weight that we may be carrying from miscarriage, abortion, or sexual abuses. In Lady’s Mantle, we see potential for powerful internal shifts in womb, heart, and mind. Alchemilla really is one of those allies that one can find great balance with – they stimulate the appetite while at the same time aiding in maintaining a balanced weight (with their digestive stimulant function), they promote menstrual bleeding while checking blood loss, and they are evidently a moon time medicine whose affinity with the water element is most evident in the rising sun hours. With Lady’s Mantle, we can readily approach a more harmonious state from within and shift into fluidity of being.

you’re not really mad that I’m not having children. in fact, I would probably love to one day. you’re mad that I’m expressing autonomy of choice. you’re mad that I’m considering other options. you’re mad that I don’t view that as my ultimate potential. — Alice Minium

NOTE: updated formula will be available starting 6/21/2022.
This is the tincture that people in my family, some of those I consider friends, and I have used for years in preventing unplanned conception. This is that natural birth control — forget that pill, haha! The decision to offer this tincture publicly came as a response to the same system that has long coerced women in getting hysterectomies and which is now making and passing decisions and laws which will impact the reproductive rights and justice of people for a time to come. We claim ourselves protected from such wickedness and declare autonomy and agency as we move in our divine earth vessels through this world. Formulated with 4 herbs which in multiple ways help to tone and maintain health in the reproductive system, all the while creating specific conditions unfavorable for implantation and fertilization, this potion is meant to provide the same kind of shielding that many seek when they take birth control pills. Smartweed is the guiding herb here. Smartweed contains several medicinal properties such as gallic acid, quercetin, and rutin which make it hard for implantation to happen. Soursop (Guanabana) leaves and Cat’s Claw (Uña de Gato) have been used in Kiskeya as both abortifacient and conception preventative. These two work by making the uterine lining unfavorable for pregnancy, while the content of Vitamin C in Soursop leaves is also said to contribute to its overall contraceptive qualities (it is known the high amounts of Vitamin C can both prevent implantation and induce menstruation). Medicine people in Kiskeya have also stated that the contraceptive effects of Cat’s Claw and Soursop leaves can impact the system for 30 days (when used in the way advised), so this formula is one that you really only need to use during the indicated time in order to ensure your intention. Sage leaves were added to this formula as a further protective shield and energetic boost. They also help to clear out hormonal and residual impacts from using birth control pills and other non-plantbased birth control methods. This tincture is meant to be taken in a very specific way to ensure that it is effective for preventing conception — the full details are indicated on the corresponding notecard and should be followed entirely to ensure that the tincture works for that specific purpose. If for some reason the outlined protocol for consumption is missed, you can still use this tincture right after sexual intercourse for a certain amount of days (also indicated on note card) to prevent pregnancy. The plants used here have many uses so they will fair as tonic, immune-boosting medicines if used regularly. Reclaim your body as sacred and see every decision and action you make and take about it to be in alignment with such holiness and wholeness — you deserve it.

Charged with mantra, singing bowl meditations, sun and moon lights, beach breeze. This remedy is special and was specifically formulated with the female generative organs and processes in mind but it can be used by anybody intending to get in tune with themselves and their creative prowess. Yin Yoni is a spirit tonic precise for enhancing our more yin, cool, receptive, open, and fluid qualities. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the 5 yin organs are the heart, liver, spleen, kidneys, and lungs. It is important to note here that all organs can be both yin and yang while also being the case that some of the organs display more or less of the qualities of one or the other end of the spectrum(s). Something to note about the yin organs (of transformation and storage) in the body is that they are connected through the vagus nerve which goes as deep as into the cervix. This is useful information because it illuminates the fact of inextricable connectivity of tissue and our viscera throughout the whole physical. It also enables us to comprehend just how pertinent the function of one part is to the health of the whole. Yin organs like yin essence are one of storing, holding, and transforming forms of energy for proper usage and transportation with support of the Yang organs. Yin Yoni Spirit Drops is formulated with flowers and seeds that touch all of the mentioned organs of transformation and storage while also enabling us to clarify and expand to receive from and to a space of deeper attunement and a brighter, more defined center and sense of self. The flower essences with which this is crafted all have a cohesive application for helping us to heal from sexual discord and trauma and other forms of affliction which has imprinted within our hearts and creative innerscapes, especially digging through into our root centers and aiding us to uproot causes and feel the effects of the medicine we are invoking. Basil flowers contain the frequency of integration and in essence form can be effective for helping us to bridge the spiritual and sexual aspects of the self into a sacred union. For practitioners of Tantra, Basil flower essence facilitates innerstanding of the mysteries and secrets (sacreds) of the tradition(s). This essence has also proven healing to those who are recovering from the shame and stigma surrounding sexual expression which leads to repression and sometimes even ‘hidden’ attraction to illicit sexuality such as addiction to porn. Basil offers a sense of unity and helps to undo the effects of polarity on the subconscious and how that may materialize whether overtly or covertly. In combination with Hibiscus essence, this formula is set to increase feelings of love for the self and one’s body. Hibiscus supports the reclamation of our sexuality and sensuality, also supporting the feeling of warmth in the generative region and thus potentially having an aphrodisiac effect on the body. The combination of blue butterfly pea and queen anne’s lace flowers and seeds is reminiscent of what may be a visual representation — butterfly pea, the yoni; cupped queen anne’s lace seeds, the womb. Butterfly pea, open. Queen Anne’s Lace, waiting to receive.. but only if it feels right. This is a remedy that sensitizes what has become desensitized and unfeeling. In the same vein, it supports intuitive strength. It works through a meridian that could be the bao mai but also seems to extend beyond that field: pineal and pituitary glands into throat and lungs into heart into womb into cervix. Yin Yoni provides a centering force and enlivens us to stability as we still flow. Butterfly pea is revered as a sacred flower with many powers. They have been used to alleviate depression and reduce stress, having notable impact on cortisol levels and nervous system regulation — this translates to a direct impact on the heart and cardiovascular function. In places like Indonesia and Thailand, this flower is used for everything from headaches to eye infections to boils. There are also studies confirming the effectiveness that they can have for conditions such as asthma. With this flower, you are assured wealth in a bottle. What’s even more is that the blue pea flower has a lubricating and yin enhancing quality which goes down into the hips and invites us into a dance. Queen Anne’s Lace supports all of this and is particularly indicated for the third eye / pineal gland region and the cervical / womb regions. The flower essence affords clearing of the psychic space and the tincture form helps us to communicates messages of prevention and protection for our womb and creative regions. The layers of this tonic are plentiful and the medicine it offers is abundant. With ritualistic use, it can be a portal maker and opener for ceremony, love-making, creating, and laboring alike. Yin Yoni is for the womb-bearers, the mothers, the lovers, and anybody willing to flow into their wholeness with trust.
