This one is called ‘Mother Sweetest’ because this potion is sweet and crafted with a sweet-tasting ally whose milky elixir is reminiscent of a nourishing mother’s milk. Astragalus is medicine widely used in China. Astragalus serves as an overall tonic for the body, particularly toning the heart and kidneys. As a tonic for the heart, Astragalus increases how much blood the heart can pump (which is limited in instances of heart disease) in people who have complained of chest pain. They strengthen the left side of the heart, the part that is usually sluggish in heart disease, and slow down the heart rate in those whose hearts are beating too fast. In one study, Astragalus even helped people who had just had a heart attack. Within 36 hours of the attack, the herb improved function of the left-side ventricles. There was also reduced oxidation and increased superoxide dismutase (an enzyme that speeds up certain chemical reactions in the body) activity on red blood cells, which is one of the suggestions of Astragalus working as an antioxidant. Huang Chi has also been suggested as one capable of balancing levels of salt and water in the body, thus helping the kidneys function better. Overall findings of Astragalus’s effectiveness on the heart have revealed that employing them for treatment is more effective and has less side effects than conventional drugs prescribed by doctors. This along with its ability to increase sperm motility make it ideal, also, for men’s health maintenance as men tend to experience a higher rate of heart disease and reproductive imbalances after a certain age. Further elaborating on Astragalus potency, there has been evidence that Huang Ch’i (as Astragalus is known in the Orient) strengthens the primary energy and tonifies what is known as the three burning spaces. As an energizer of the outside of the body, this is one considered a tonic superior to Ginseng for younger people who tend to be more physically active. Huang Ch’i is said to be strengthening, particularly, to the legs and arms, and because of their warm energetic, they are good for people who work outside in locations where the climate gets cooler. The Cojobana seeds for this ointment were gifted to me by my grandfather. It is with my ancestors’ permission that I share this medicine, so please use with reverence, mindfulness, and respect for the offering. In Kiskeya (commonly known as the Dominican Republic/Haiti) where my family is from, Cojobana seeds are ground as used as snuff in vision quest ceremonies for communion with other nature spirits, ancestral guides, and beings of the underworld and within the oversoul. Cojobana seeds, when inhaled, promote hallucinations that expand the perception beyond what is readily present for the naked eye. It’s truly been a longtime coming with this one. I’ve been having vivid dreams about Juniper berries for some time. In one, there was a girl who had Juniper berries in her hair - months later one of my apprentices shared with me how her hair had gotten caught in a Juniper shrub, like they were talking to her telling her to pay attention. We had received a very similar message for I had previously received the inspiration to craft a Juniper oil for the scalp - Juniper is useful for stimulating hair growth and treating conditions that contribute to the loss of hair. These drops come in brown bottles for optimal preservation. This formula was created in response to my own needs to alleviate the eye strain I was experiencing from working on computer — it was implemented as part of an eye detox program created for a thorough healing of vision. Using the mother essences of flower essences before alcohol is added, alongside certain minerals and elements vital for the healing and nourishing of the eyes. Calendula, Chrysanthemum, and Eyebright are all considered ideal for healing optical imbalances when taken in some medicinal form (usually tincture or infusion and eye wash) consistently. Instead of creating a direct infusion, a solar flower essence was made with the flowers of each of these and this served as the inspirational basis for this formula. Later on, bilberries and strawberries came forward as effective in this potion (through a dream), so essences of those berries were made and also added. Eating those berries is in truth very beneficial to eye health as they both contain antioxidants such as vitamins A and E which help to clear any free radicals creating the manifestation of other problems throughout the body, very specifically the brain and eyes. MSM is a sulfur-rich compound and sulfur is needed to help recycle glutathione which is the master antioxidant in the body. This makes MSM useful and specific for good eye health as antioxidant support has long been proven to be beneficial for clearing and strengthening vision.
