the story:

An essential-oil-free formula. Only available in 2 ounce bottles. There is something very interesting about both the term “anima” and the fact that each of the plant spirit medicines in this oil blend have an intimate connection to certain animals and insects. For one, anima is a word that refers to “an individual’s true self that, in the analytic psychology of C.G. Jung, reflects archetypal ideas of conduct.” In philosophy, it is the soul or animating principle of a living thing. Furthermore, the etymology of this word tells us that it is the Latin anima which means “a current of air, wind, air, breath; the vital principle, life, soul”. Moreover, this one is closely resonant with the word “animal” which corresponds to entities with a level of intellectual capacity (even in the order of animal living) and having life (though we are fully aware that more than just the animal kingdom is infused with the essence of life - these are mere scientific order terms), so this oil is a combination of the grace of animal spirits and the original essence within, primal and ancient in nature. Catnip, a plant capable of inducing euphoria in cats, is enchanting and feminine - relaxing, stimulating, and tantalizing, simultaneously. Something about feline catnip sensitivity is that it is hereditary and about 70-80% of cats inherit this sensitivity, yet it is something that is not evident until about 4-6 months after the cat is born. The effects are likened to that of THC or psilocybin effects - so, quite naturally, catnip possesses a deeply ancestral quality about it even when considering their extensive use in many parts of the world, beginning in some of the most ancient of civilizations. Bee balm supports the function of Catnip by enhancing the skin protecting power of Nepeta (Catnip). Bee balm promotes the opening of the respiratory passages, so, like Eucalyptus, they are great for treating coughs, colds, and even bronchial spasms. Topically, they heal the skin and any wounds. Bee balm is known as such because of the way they attract and keep bees around. Symbols of collaborative work ethic, bees can invite us to consider the ways we can open into a supportive community, recognizing the power of our own contributions within the collective. Eucalyptus, a plant whose leaves koalas often enjoy, is an ally for seeing in the night and enhancing dream time experience, reminiscent of the koala’s nocturnal disposition. Further lunar associations are seen in the fact that “koala” comes from an ‘aboriginal’ term meaning “no water” because it is believed that koalas get almost all their moisture from the eucalyptus leaves they eat, and so they drink very little water. Combined, Catnip, Bee balm, and Eucalyptus also stimulate the nervous system and the brain with their aroma. They can be warming in combination, potentially promoting sweating in individuals with certain constitutions - this, in turn, offers an ally for detoxification through the skin. Espiritu Anima, thus, is an oil blend that invites these friendly creatures to support our journey while offering us insights into how we can be better stewards to the wider web of our ecosystems; with this formula at hand, you can step fully into alignment with the first laws of earth, all natural.
